How to Become a GMC Approved PHEM Training Provider

IBTPHEM is committed to ensuring trainees have access to GMC approved PHEM training posts across the UK and welcome applications from organisations who can support training to become PHEM local education providers.

The IBTPHEM training committee reviews applications and provides a recommendation to the GMC when the regional Health Education Teams make a request to provide GMC approved PHEM training or make an application to increase the number of training posts in their region.

The application process consists of the completion of the IBTPHEM Quality Assurance for new PHEM training schemes document and the PHEM curriculum delivery document.

These are to be submitted to IBTPHEM at: IBT-PHEM@rcs.ed.uk

A PHEM training approvals panel will be convened within eight weeks of submission and provide a recommendation within seven working days.

When completing the application documents, it is important that local education providers work closely with their PHEM training program director to ensure all the approvals within NHS-E are obtained and to discuss funding arrangements.

The 2021 PHEM curriculum, syllabus and assessment system document is a valuable resource to refer to and a link can be found below.
